 | [MCI] MCI DSL good move for Chicago customer? Hi!
After an incredibly horrible experience trying to get DSL through AT&T I'm ready to try again. Maybe.
I'd like to ask the Chicago area customers should I go with MCI? There's not a lot of recent reviews on MCI so I really need some more info...
I live in Chicago, am 4000-6500 feet away from CO (depending on who estimates). The wires are owned by SBC. According to the techs who came out to a) install a 2nd line and b) check the data connection, my inside wiring is OK. (AT&T DSL kept blaming interference with the voice service, very slow connections, and frequent disconnects on "internal wiring". ) I don't own the building so re-wiring or putting a splitter at the NID (it's 30 feet off the ground) or running a homerun is not possible.
I tried buying DSL through other resellers, but have been told I'd have to switch my local voice phone to SBC - and I won't. So, I'll have to switch both land lines to MCI as well. I'd be signing up for the "internet access" only plan for $20. There's also a $100 "activation fee". Supposedly it includes equipment to keep (not lease).
I would really appreciate any advice or feedback. |

 | Go for it nobody can beat That price of $20 for DSL. Yes there is $99 activation fee that includes the equipment and everything and after the year is up you are able to keep equipment. |

leno join:2004-04-02 Astoria, NY | reply to Ciryaquen the MCI rep told me if you return the equitment, They will credit $150 into your account. By keeping these equitment is bootless, it will be outdated or useless without the dsl signal. so it's advisable to return it for the credit. |
