I can't believe this!

All I have to say is You People Amaze Me!!

It seems to me that most of the people that have posted so far in this thread seem to think that this type of vandalism is a big joke and funny or something. I'm sure that the people who lost their phone service because of this are not laughing.

It doesn't matter is you like or dislike Verizon, this is a serious problem. It affects everything from casual calls to business and 911 calling to data transport for hundreds if not thousands of people! The person responsible needs to be caught and prosecuted. I do believe tampering or damaging telephone facilities is a federal offense (for good reason).

For those of you that think this is funny, HA HA, grow up!! You people make me sick!!

The part that I am laughing about is the fact that every one in verizon country wants fiber deployed. And some people think this will speed it up for them if they do something stupid like this.

I agree it is not funny that communications were lost, but you gotta admit if it turns out he did it because he wanted FIOS , or even dsl (to far from co ? ) , now that would be humorous.

Tampering and/or Damaging Telephone facilities is a federal offense???
Then how come the RBOC's(Especially VENIZON) get Paid to do it?

What makes me sick is people that support Monopolies that prey on their customers because they have enough money to lobby and tailor the laws to themselves.
The 1996 Telecom Act has become a Joke, BUT IM NOT LAUGHING.
Yeah, its sucks being a customer and having your phone lines cut down, but how else to bring the problem to people that just dont get it, or never even understood that there was a problem? This brings the RBOC BULL right into their home so they can understand what is going on to MANY PAYING CITIZENS.

Do they know this is intentional or accidental?

Might be a shady building contractor in the area, that doesn't get permits or streets marked.

I sympathize with your situation. Verizon needs to wake up and smell the cofee in alot of respects. But I would never do anything like this, even if I was steaming mad at them. I actually think I would dislike jail more than I dislike Verizon.

Yes, if that is the reason he did it then obviously he needs some serious help. I can't believe anyone could think that if they cut a cable that it would result in faster deployment of advanced services.

At the moment they don't , but I tent to believe it's just a crazy that wants fios.

In the article it explains they are just low hanging cables. The point where they are coming out of the ground to go to the top of the pole.

I guess verizon will be adding steel poles beside them to protect it this time around.

I am reg'd but I dont have my password on me at the moment. Im talking about the sabotage that VZ commits when you go with another DSL provider. They delays in getting it hooked into the frame, crrossconnected, not being able to use another local toll provoider if you want DSL, the extra time it takes to get the load coils, Taps, and laterals removed, the quality of their copper(shorts, splits, water infusion etc). Funny how things work fine when you give up and go wit VZ for DSL service...The loop is clean and works fine on the loop end(then you have to go through support for the MORONS to fix their backend programming), and its up and running in 1/4 the time it takes for a DSL competitor. Additionaly, ask them to come out and fix or look into noise on the line(pop, static, crackles, etc)...Be prepared to have your entire phone and/or dsl down for DAYS at a time. Lastly, what happens when you are 7000 ft from C.O. and they decide to repair/upgrade part of the loop(by adding 20000ft) and now you are too far to get DSL from them or anybody else. Then how about their great idea to put your street on an RT and again NO DSL NOW. Yeah, OK, These guys are all about prgoress. BULL, THEY ARE CRIMINALS, INCOMPETENTS and THIEVES. Look at broadband penetration abroad...faster speeds, longer loops, more customers, more stable, Better quality, AND ITS CHEAPER! Only one answer...DIVEST THEM OF THE INFRASTRCTURE that WE as CITIZENS and CUSTOMERS PAID FOR during the ATT era. Bring FAIRNESS to the SERVICES Game.

Good4Him

@nyc1.dsl.speakeasy.n

Oh, almost forgot..
Add the Growing copper theyve invented last year. Your prequal loop can go from 5000ft to over 25000 just because you ordered DSL or tried going with another provider or tried to get fater speeds which should be possible.
Then...we have the soon to come Voip push...and like everyone else...they are gonna say "You should always have a cellular or land line backup" This take the whole DEAL part of moving to Voip a DEAD DEAL.

Hey, I am not defending Verizon. I have said in the past that they have many, many issues. As to all the other stuff you spoke of I cannot say anything about that because I have not had any problems with them, though I cannot get DSL (irritates me).

I will say that all the stuff you spoke about is completely way off topic for this thread though. This thread is about a person physically cutting/damaging the phone lines. You may not like the way Verizon does business and I understand and respect that, but your opinions on that subject are not relevant to this thread.

It all started with me saying that they get what they deserve.
That is my one and only point to make about this thread. They deserve what they get..and then some MORE. What other recourse do you think someone has against these guys? This is street justice if you ask me. This because VZ wants to play like a street thug/bully. He finally got them to use Maintenance money for Maintenance. Cutting-away or adding a customer or loop should NOT go on the maintenance expendature line. It should go on the cost of customer acquisition line or cost of customer loss line. They are playing a numbers game...cooking the books...and so is this guy. Hes playing their game...not his.

Re: I can't believe this!

You really need to chill. I'm sorry that you don't see the humor in this, but we can't all be serious all the time. Do you get off on playing the role of the "horrified mature adult" of the bunch on these forums? I could make a long list of things to be more concerned about other than the fact that a few people are having a chuckle at an absurd situation. How about the AIDS crisis in Africa, or the whole tsunami situation. It's easy to belittle people. You make a valid point about the dangers inherent in people losing their phone service, but you go too far in your criticisms.

I find Stihl sawz to be the best. I dropped one from 35 feet up onto pavement. It Cracked the gas tank/body mount. Took it apart (over 50 pieces) but didnt get around to putting it back together till 4 years later. 1 Pull got it running when I finally put it back together. Nothing like a Stihl with a 22 inch blade. : )
