 | Etheric service in Boulder Creek...it's starting. The system wouldn't let me post a followup to the old thread, saying it was "too old to reply to" (why is it not too old to read, then? ) so I'm starting a new post on the same subject.
Someone had asked last spring about possible Etheric service in Boulder Creek. As someone who lived there for 4 years, it's near & dear to my heart, and I've been wanting to provide service over there for my friends still living in the area.
Well, we've got our first toe-hold over in Boulder Creek, and I expect it to grow. We have a recent customer who apparently is in the right position to catch a beam shot over from our Loma Prieta tower, and apparently there's a well-positioned notch in the mountains so he can get signal. (I haven't spoken directly with him, yet, so my details are from talking with others on staff.)
Also, one of our field installers lives pretty close to this guy, and was...shall we say..."mildly excited" (or perhaps just a bit more than that!) at the prospect of getting broadband at his place. So he was quite motivated to leverage that first toe-hold into a reasonable presence, and was even excitedly talking about the relative ease he'd have in connecting friends & neighbors (eventually) without having to drive so far.
So, at this point, we're certainly not "covering" Boulder Creek, but we are there, and we'll be building our presence out to provide service to those who've been waiting so patiently for someone to show up!
I'm not sure of the exact location, but I think it's somewhere around the Mountain Store area, several miles north of downtown BC. If you're an early-adopter, live on (or own) land with a good view of the surrounding area, and are interested in helping us bring broadband to your neighborhood, drop us some email and let us know.
Send mail to "sales" and CC: "support", so you hit both the folks who deal with the growth potential, and those who will help design/build/support the net over there.
I can't speak for any concrete plans or schedules over there. But I did want to let folks know that it's finally begun, and how they can best help in speeding build-out and such.
Hope this helps!
