kendog join:2000-10-06 Oxnard, CA | DSLAM settings thru Fujitsu RA14 Possible?? I have a Fujitsu (Orkit) Speedport Desktop modem provided by GTE as my ILEC for Earthlink DSL.
Is there a way to query it or query or connect to the DSLAM to verify it's settings?
I would believe there is a way for troubleshooting purposes, but I have no documentation that will tell me how to do it. (Not in the Install manual provided).
How about some help from you technical savvy GTE/Verizon experts.
Any tips (or applicable connect software/app utility) would be cool.
I'm at 800KDN at 3000ft from the CO, though I subscribed for 1.5M Down.
Feel short changed compared to those who pay the same price/plan and can get Covad access at 1.5M....
Thanks Kendog, I am @homemail.com |

 | I've had an installer out several times to troubleshoot various issues, and even when he's hooked his laptop into my Orckit modem (and one time when he hooked up a Speedport for testing) he was not able to do anything directly with the DSLAM. He always had to call into their special telephone number and have someone check the DSLAM from the management console.
So my best guess is that there isn't a way to get to the DSLAM settings/information from the client side, or this guy would have had it (he was *really* knowledgable).
I've found that the GTE/Verizon Telco folks are generally really knowledgable, and the GTE/Verizon ISP folks are generally completely clueless until you get to about 3rd level tech support - at which point you may get someone with a clue - but it takes a lot to get to that point. -- Scott Kuntzelman Notes_Admin(.at.)bigfoot.com |

You are correct. We have a piece of software we use to dial up the DSLAM to check the settings. it's not telnetable, nor is any of the information available to the end user. -- Any views or opinions expressed are the sole opinion of the author, not necessarily the views or opinions of Verizon Select Services or any of it's affiliates. |
