Rule of thumb: Anytime you change something involving the WAN side, restart (power cycle) the broadband modem.

1. Change or Clone MAC address
2. Apply new firmware
3. Change WAN type
4. Change login information
5. Perform a factory default reset on the router
6. Lock the WAN port speed in Tools / Misc
7. Lock the WAN port speed in Tools / Misc
8. Lock the WAN port speed in Tools / Misc
... etcetera ...

Hope that helps.

By the way, did you ever try locking the WAN port speed in Tools / Misc to 10 Mbps as suggested by sandwidth? That seemed to be a likely one to me.

... if you try that, don't forget to reboot your modem.
