4 edits | [Util] "D-Link Connection Monitor" utilityHi folks, I made this little utility for monitoring the NATLIST.TXT "feature" of the D-Link DI-604 router. I created it because I could not find something similar that would allow me to know when certain computers on the network were accessing the internet. I would like to offer it to anyone who may find it useful.
Note there will be few seconds delay for each unique IP that cannot be resolved when the "Resolve Remote IPs" setting is used.
Cheers! |

Anyone know if there's a way I can make 192.168.0.1 (an unused address) grab the file from 192.168.0.251 (my router)?
That's my #1 feature request! -- Robb Topolski http://www.funchords.com/ Hillsboro, Oregon USA |

 | reply to Scree Is this only for newer di-604 routers? i tried it on mine and it failed. |

1 edit | reply to funchords funchords, I'll have an update for that shortly.
As for working on other model D-Link routers, they just have to support the NATLIST.TXT file, and it would have to be in the same format the DI-604 returns (since that's the only model I have here). But if the 624 does support it but it is different, I could try adding support for it if you could send me a NATLIST.TXT from one. |

Enjoy! |

1 edit | reply to funchords Interesting, the 624 text appears the same except it is missing the "total entries =" line. So, the only issue would be the "Show Only Found" setting since that edits the second line, meaning it would show your data missing the 0) line in this case. I'll see what I can do to support that right. |

However, I am using firmware 2.42. Someone with firmware 2.50 and 2.52 should also check »(your router ip)/NATLIST.TXT and see if the word "total" is mentioned anywhere. -- Robb Topolski http://www.funchords.com/ Hillsboro, Oregon USA |

| It works on the 624! |
Yep, it's working great on my 624.
Do you think you could make it not connect when you first start it up, to give me time to change the IP before it tries to connect? The program was frozen for 15-30 seconds while it tried to connect to the default address, which isn't my router. Just a minor issue, after it said connection failed I changed the address and now it works =] |

 | reply to funchords Hi.
I have tested this program on D-Link 624+ (v1.21) and it works. I can see total entries, but Show Only Found must be disabled.
TNX....

TsumePremium join:2004-02-23 Johnson City, TN | That's the way it's supposed to work I think.
It replaces the 2nd line [which should be total entries, and the problem is on 2.42 it will replace line 0 since there is no total entries] with the showing only found text. |

A couple of bugs:
1. Resolve IPs causes an application hang. I thought maybe this was related to a slow DNS, so I extended the time to 30 seconds with the same result.
2. Tries to access 192.168.0.1 on startup, causing it to hourglass delay until it times out (10 seconds or so). Then you can edit the IP. Perhaps it should just start "Paused" with the cursor on the IP. 192.168.0.1 is a great default.
3. The "total" thing already discussed.
4. The title. There will even be some non-Dlink routers that this works with.

I thought you might enjoy seeing it on the DI-624. Also please send me an IM. Thanks! |
