| Is there any use for these things? I remember that, after DTV DSL went down, some people were trying to hack these things so they could serve other purposes, such as a DNS server, time server, toaster, nuclear detonator, etc. Did anyone ever figure out how to make them perform any useful function at all?
I think the reasoning was that these gateways came with a fair amount of computing power: a 50 MHz PowerPC processor. OK, a fair amount of power for a DSL modem.
In fact, I was thinking about this the other day, since I have one on the top shelf of my closet. |
