Re: [Other Providers] vonage vs att pros and cons

I am an ATT CV customer now for over 6 months after coming over from Vonage. My advice is to keep Vonage and try out ATT CV within the free trial period. You can use them both together and compare/contrast them. Then keep the one you like and cancel the other. Your own experiences with either may vary so it is always best to try out and see how it works out for you.

Doc has a great suggestion here, but you should keep one thing in mind: If you try out ATT CV and Vonage at the same time, you should place ATT's and Vonage's TAs both behind a home router. I've found ATT's service to work better (generally speaking) when the TA is in front of the router, but your ATT TA will cripple another VoIP service that's placed behind it. I say this, because for a short period, I had two ATT TAs (a Linksys and a DLink). Calls from the DLink (placed behind the Linksys TA) had very high latency and choppiness--it was because of the QoS on the Linksys.

You may need to place the ATT TA in front of your router for activation, but to test both services fairly, they should both be behind the router (or if you keep your ATT TA in front, don't use both lines at the same time).
