Re: BEFSX41 Firmware 1.52.3 - POST YOUR RESULTS HE

Hmmm. Interesting!
I must've triggered something up at Linksys because no sooner do I post my less than stellar comments about this unit and Linksys practices and all of a sudden firmware 1.52.9 quietly shows up. Yeap, the same version the one Level II tech told me was available and another the next day said did not exist!

I like to think I had something to do with the new release. I like to also think Linksys is listening to the little people out here, on the front lines, that have to go to battle with things like this on a daily basis.

Good for Linksys!!!!

Now, let's just hope this version is "THE ONE".
Reports are staring to pour in here: »has any 1 with a BEFSX41 tried the new firmware ?

For now let's throw this new version on the flash disk as well, shall we?

:(I had a bad experience going from 1.44 to 1.52.9.

While attempting a firmware upgrade of befsx41 from version 1.44 with file BEFSX41_v1[1].52.9_code,0.bin using »192.168.1.1/Upgrade.htm following instructions in the linksys online help system answer id 557 results in "Warning ! Upgrade file pattern error."

Answer from telephone support: download the 'upgrade utility' from the befSR41v4 router downloads page and use it to upgrade the bin file to this router. The v1.44 upgrade untility on the router itself is defective.

After completing the upgrade with reboot the router is completly unrespponsive to ping and hard resets. In Fact the reset does not function at all, no reboot. The Lan and Wan lights are on but there is no response.

2nd call - went through all the troubleshooting and ended with, "you need a new router" because you may have installed the wrong firmware and the router is past it's one year warrenty. The help person spoke with thier supervisor twice after I insisted on some other outcome and then perhaps a new router or a RMA. No go.

I'm very disappointed with linksys firmware programming. I don't think they are really interesetd in good product support in the long run. I reccomed sticking with 1.44 or getting a new router, as I am likely too do! :-(

rename BEFSX41_v1[1].52.9_code,0.bin to BEFSX41_v1[1].52.9_code.bin and try again
