1.52.3: The bug called "Some router's web page items take forever to load" is now fixed.
I'm very happy to see this one is now fixed! Although not enough to actually use this BETA firmware.

Re: BEFSX41 Firmware 1.52.3 - POST YOUR RESULTS HE

I just bought linksys router for a month now and I am not satisfied with this product.
How long has it been out?
It has as many bugs as Windows.

I did a firmware upgrade to 1.5.18 to stealth port 113 indent.
..Ok. fine, but then I couldn't load (or loading very slowly) windows update, or various other sites...Reported this problem to India (so I believe) anyway, and he gave me a beta version to try, as I can see here,it is not any better.
I have not updated yet. But I'll report my findings in a week or so, enough time to fully test it!

One other thing, they should start giving support for linux distros.

One guy's opinion...Peace.

Following my previous post...
The BETA version they gave me is "BEFSX41_v1.52.5_beta4_000_code.bin"
I'm running Windows 2000 Pro, with WinXP Pro, and linux. On a 160GB Drive.
Tested on WIN2000.
I spoke with Conrad at tech support in the Philipines.
And went through the process of updating the firmware.
I was unable to get into the router. So he showed me this:

Under Local Area Connections-TCP/IP-Properties.

Check "Use the following IP address:
IP address: 192.168.1.45
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
and the "Preferred DNS server: 192.168.1.1"
Then I was able to access my router. Did the upgrade. And set up the PPPoE settings.
I tested Windows Update, novell.com, and Outlook Express, and still had the hang ups (as this was the problem I had before). So I enabled MTU to 1492 and connection keep alive in the setup page.. EVERYTHING came up fast !
To sum up so far so good with these settings and firmware v1.52.5_beta4_000.
I know some of you might know all this, but I didn't, SO is why I post !

»db.linksys.com for a LITTLE help...Later..
