Several years ago (at any rate), Symantec was using XML for the Norton Integrator (what I still prefer to call the Norton console), which is what you see if you click on a Norton product on your desktop or in the System Tray. You might want to try running a "Repair" operation on MSIE. I've pretty much quit using it myself, but hold on a sec . . . Okay, looks like you'll have to try that through "Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel. (And don't forget to check Windows Update for anything new, while you're at it.)

 jvmorrisI Am The Man Who Was Not There.Premium,MVM join:2001-04-03 Reston, VA | When I go to "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel and scroll down to MSIE (actually labeled "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools" on my box), click on "Add/Remove ..." , the resulting window that pops up offers three options: •Add a Component • Repair • Restore the Previous Configuration (or words to that effect). I was just having a similar kind of problem with MS Excel, which I solved by 'repairing' it, also.
Mind, I'm not guaranteeing this will solve your problem, but it's likely a good place to start.

Oh, sure, I could throw something out, but if I were wrong you might end up with no MSIE at all!
Before you do anything, however, I would suggest you download and install Firefox (doesn't have to be on your boot drive) just in case something gets screwed up. That way, you'd still be able to get back here if need be. -- Regards, Joseph V. Morris |
