 | kg,
Probably nothing noticeable, but ISA seems to be getting phased out on newer motherboards while PCI is still being used. -- "Knowledge is Power" ... System shutdown in 30 seconds... |

Actually I am kind of surprised it works at all. 3com cards are very good but for some reason they seem to be somewhat incompatible with GTE DSL. I would switch to a Kingston PCI or a NetGear they seem to work pretty well and are reasonable too. I am curious to track this. |

 | The only difference you might notice would be on the pc itself. different bus speeds, 16vs32 bit archetecture, etc. the GTE network doesn't care how the NIC connects to the motherboard, but the motherboard does. It also seems that newer boards are phasing out ISA. Hey, for $20, go for it. it can't hurt anything. We've found that netgear, kingston, and LinkSys cards tend to work the best, and are fairly inexpensive. I've seen a few issues with 3Com cards and our network tho. No idea why, 3Com and GTE don't seem to get along well. -- Any views or opinions expressed are the sole opinion of the author, not necessarily the views or opinions of Verizon Select Services or any of it's affiliates. |
