 | MCI to Covad Arrrggghhh! So, obviously, the switchover from MCI to Covad for everyone using MCI service from DNS-LLC is going to have some hiccups.
But is anyone else seeing a HUGE disparity between what's being promised and what's being delviered?
Here's what I was told: there will be a "hot cut" cutover, which you schedule through Covad. Covad will send you the new equipment in time for you to get it by cutover. So any downtime will be extremely minimal.
Here's what I'm seeing: Immediatly on the cutover being scheduled (5 days in the future), MCI pulled the plug. So now I have no connectivity at all. They can get an MCI tech to look at it, but not for 4 days (OK, it's the weekend, but that's a LONG outage). So MAYBE MCI will restore service by the cutover, but that won't help much. Because Covad didn't ship the equipment until too late, so I won't get my equipment until a day AFTER the cutover.
So, I'm down for the better part of a week on the promised "almost no downtime 'hot cut' from MCI to Covad."
Is anyone else seeing these kinds of major headaches? I realize that coordinating 3 seperate companies is hard, and some of these problems lie outside DNS' control. But hey--it's THEIR cutover, and THEY'RE the ones telling me "don't worry--it will be painless." I'm not at all happy that a company that I brag about to other people would handle this so badly. Sigh... |
 | I am having the same problems. I received an email from Covad one hour before my service was disconnected. My equipment wasn't shippped until 3 business days later.
Now, I only get 1/2 my up speed as I had when I was with Worldcom. |
