This conundrum is exactly what RIAA has been fighting with, well, since forever: How do you implement new-age copy protection, yet still keep it compatible with older media readers? Sure they could release a new DRM-ed format that was only compatible on media players made within the last 2 months, but there would be a nation-wide hissy fit of biblical porportions.
So, to quote George, "Bring 'em ON!" Let the MPAA shoot themselves in the foot by rendering 75% of DVD players useless with new encrypted media formats. That'll just serve to show everyone just how much of crooks they really are. |
