Trying to find a word

There is a word I remember hearing, about changing the subject of a conversation I believe. (but not fluidly as in segue)

The way I remember it being pronounced is "bow mew" I think it is a french term, spelled something like beaux meau

Google searches dont tell me much of anything except that beaux, if that is even how it is spelled, means beautiful.

If I am remembering right, the word means to change the subject of a conversation to something entirely unrelated (either that or something related in a profound way- I cant quite remember) But it also could mean something else

I wish I could remember more, but I could not find anything in quite a few searches and I know I did not imagine this word

Doing a crossword puzzle

LOL! On that site I did a search trying "beaux mieux" and it asked: Did you mean "Tex-Mex"?

Lots of hits on google with that, but in French. Hope I'm staying G-Rated

I tried "mieux" at m-w.com but nothing relevant came up. I don't think "beau" will produce anything relevant, either.

I thank everyone for the help, but I come no closer in finding the word I remember.

It is possible that the word was made up by some auther somewhere, or in fact that I am just way off in either how it is pronounced or spelled or even in the language it comes from. As such, I don't believe it pertinant to continue the search for a word that may or may not exist.

Again, thank you all for the help
