I'll Never Use PPOE....

The thought of one server at the ISP processing all traffic for all subs is mind boggling. Why would you want to be a part of a network with that much useless traffic on it?

At least around here, DSL uses PPOE. PPOE causes headaches galore for me, mainly the hardware crashing or not getting authenticated properly on a regular basis.

It is annoying to setup a login for PPoE, but I've had no problems getting it to work.

My recent DSL install when I moved into my new house does not require PPoE (Verizon).

I also know quite a few people who have had DSL installed in the past 2 years that do not need PPoE either.

i agree. the last few times i have switched firmware versions on my dlink router i have had to reset the ppoe info. sure it may be annoying, but once its in, ive never had a single problem with the connection. neither have i had a problem with it before i got the router.
