 | The best that the retention dept. would offer was a $200 discount and some free programming for a while. I just can't justify paying $800 or a HD PVR when I can get one from my cable provider for free and pay the same or less per month as I do now with DTV.
That being said, I do like DTV and my 2 UTV boxes so I will probably just wait a while to see what happens when DTV comes out with their new equipment. -- Athlon 64 3200Asus K8VSEDX MotherboardCorsair 512MB 3200C2WD SE 80GB ATA/100 7200RPMRadeon 9700 PROLiteOn 48x24x48 CDRW |

That sounds like the best offer D* gives out for the HD-TiVo. As I said, some people look at that and add the credit plus the free programming together and call it say a $400 discount.
I did what you're considering: Got an HD-DVR from Time Warner for $4.99/month. Because of the "buy back" offer they have for satellite customers, I'm paying the same as I was paying Dish Network, but for quite a bit more programming. I had AT120 with Dish and my monthly cost was $45. With TW, I've got a similar lineup + (2) premium movie channels + my locals in High-Definition + TNT-HD and Discovery HD Theatre. This is only for (2) years though..... Maybe by then Dish or DirecTV will be leasing HD-DVRs and we might switch back. |
