ted24 @cpe.net.cable.rogers | P2P and BT traffic shaping proof. Stumbled upon this link.

This is for a company called Sandvine which makes equipment to manage p2p bandwith issues.
"Key Customers: Internet Service Providers such as Bell, Rogers, AOL etc. The actual names of customers are confidential."
This matches up with a document i read that Sandvine was courting Bell and Rogers last year.

| Yupper ... gotta be on the ball these days!
Still, a lot of the BT probs predate this stuff ...
You've got to love it though ... let's provide broadband, and then take it away because we really want to provide DPS and because bandwidth costs too much.
This is one crazy industry. |

GI SuckI Got Mail Yay join:2004-01-14 Oshawa, ON | reply to ted24 Sean K, never mind that Bell doesn't have any BT speed problems, I don't see anyone complaining that they are having speed problems based on a single application.
I think that its just bait advertising; putting big company names on the site when its just possibly that the company asked about information on the software/hardware. -- [Internet] Rogers Yahoo! | reply to ted24 i know bell has talked about it but there is no pressing need for it for them.

 | You know what magnus? I have been hearing DSL providers/pumpers talk about DSL blowing away Cable soon since...oh... 1995. LOL It hasn't happened yet and I'm not holding my breath. haha I'm not flaming, just commenting. -- "Rogers needs to buy the CN Tower now and then call it Rogers Tower. Sean join:2004-01-23 Toronto | reply to ted24 While that's true, no denying the telco's have a lot more money than the cable co's.
As far as I'm concerned, DSL has finally beat cable in this race, lol. |

 | reply to ted24 Note that it says: "Internet Service Providers SUCH AS Bell, Rogers, AOL etc. The ACTUAL NAMES of customers are CONFIDENTIAL."
That sentence certainly does not give a 100% conclusive view that Bell, Rogers or AOL are using the system. Just indicates that companies similar to those are using them. Looks like marketing propaganda to me (as a marketing professional). |

There is still no proof Rogers is using this equipment. |
|
 | I'm convinced. Check my post.
»so how many have noticed a huge bt speed drop |
|
 | reply to ted24 Rogers is controlling p2p with shaping, session management and session limiting, via protocol anlaysis above layer 4 (port level). Can't give more details. Entering this via hacked system as they could / will trace back. |

 | Anyway around this azwyt to help out our cheated/affected users? |

sbrookPremium,Mod join:2001-12-14 Ottawa kudos:4 | reply to azwyt Based on rumours I'm hearing from outside sources, Rogers undoubtedly has traffic shaping equipment and is probably moving them around for testing.

 | reply to ted24 Wow, so Rogers are actually been doing this? Controlling our internet bandwidth? I'm having horrilbe ping at the moment and I'm only uploading at 20kbs. Rogers really starting to pisses me off since I can't play game and download at teh same time. Ridiculous!! |

YEah... that was obvious as of last year. LOL I mean, people didn't suddenly turn stupid last November after 2 years of torrenting to suddenly lose 90% speed ONLY with that protocal. -- "Rogers needs to buy the CN Tower now and then call it Rogers Tower. | Don't mind me... I'm furious with TED lately. Bit torrent screwing, Caps, I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop... |

 sbrookPremium,Mod join:2001-12-14 Ottawa kudos:4 | reply to pulp46 It is fairly recent from what I understand. |

 | I suspect your *outside* sources are a little less in the know from mine... I heard it was last year Ted rolled out the first shaping equipment... perhaps not fully functional 'till recently? Will have to ask for clarification. -- "Rogers needs to buy the CN Tower now and then call it Rogers Tower.
