Re: SBC lowers pricing to $19.95 w/o bundling LD

One more good reason for the lazy 6000/600 expired plan to get on with the time! 29.95 vs 44.99 makes more economical sense!

Awwww man! I just re-uped for $26.95 a week ago or so.

It is possible for me to re-up again so quickly to $29.99 or is it too soon to even consider?

Do you feel lucky? Are you ready to call more than once?
This is "Re-Up" Roulette SBC Style.
For now I'm just waiting for March 10th and after to hear the reports if these ru-ups really took.

I see where some people were given a confirmation number when they were re-rated. I was given none.

Should I be worried?

Nah ... I've re-upped/changed my package 7 or 8 times over the years. I've never been given a confirmation number and every change has always taken place without fail. You will be fine. If you didn't change your speed profile and only got in on a lower price for the same package, don't expect to see the change reflected until probably the May bill. It usually takes a couple of billing cycles for the changes to be reflected but it should be credited back to the effective date when it finally shows up on your bill.

If you changed from say the express to pro package at the same time, you should see the increase in speed by the due date they gave you. They usually give due dates a week out from when you placed the order, but it usually happens sooner than that in my experience. There have been some on this forum in the past that the increase went a couple days past the due date though.

I got shot down and in the process got the impression the rep I was dealing with really didn't know what she was doing. It sounded like she almost wanted to add "All Distance" as part of the re-rate because it was required until I specifically told her I wanted NO CHANGES TO MY POTS SERVICE. That caveat got the response "If you don't want All Distance I can't give you the lower price".
So like I said before, I'll wait until the 10th and see the reports that the re-rates took place and there were no "side effects" to POTS services.
I'm actually optimistic but cautious nonetheless.
Worst case scenario "could be" the little "rat program" they run to weed out those who had "All Distance" when they ordered DSL and subsequently removed "All Distance" before the 12 comittment is up will revert to the "Month to Month" rate would cause issues to those on the low rate and no "All Distance" to get screwed. The promo specifically says if you remove "All Distance" your rate will revert to the Month to Month rate.

Read my post on pg 3 where I re-rated.... yes, they are supposed to give it only with all distance but I talked her past that and she entered the order. Obviously my conversation in the morning convinced her to give it up as someone later in this thread said that they got through to Tammy and she changed it with no questions asked. I think it is more just a matter of getting ahold of a willing rep. Rat program? I'd have to see that to believe it existed.

You believe there is no automated process to enforce this?:
If an ALL DISTANCE®-qualified customer cancels ALL DISTANCE® during the term, you will revert to the applicable term rate for DSL service.
I referred to THAT process as a "rat program".
It depends on how the rule is enforced. Ideally it's smart enough to differentiate "All Distance" users who cancel versus those who never had it to begin with.
I truly hope you are correct. I you get "bit" by the "rat" you'll end up in SBC "Billing Hell". A $7.00/mo savings for Pro is not worth the potential aggrevation of that.

lol... Time will tell .... and there's nobody on the face of the earth that knows about Ameritech billing/installation/connection hell better than me!!! It's an acceptable risk IMO ... worst case scenario, I go back to what I am on now. *shrug* .... what are the alternatives? To let it ride and find out in May that everyone that did re-rate got put right through, but then have the promotion over and lose out? no thanx ...
