I'm not surprised.

Once Verizon was a snake... and still is a snake. I never liked them and never will, they are sooo two faced. They only care about money not the customers satisfaction.

Got that right. I hate these guys, and have the misfortune to live in their territory, where I get almost non-existent service.

They only care about customer satisfaction to the extent it makes money for them, just like any other business. It's called capitalism.

Since when is it illegal to make money? I can't stand Verizon either but they have an obligation to their shareholders to make money.

Well, I signed up in September 2000. The service was 640/90 and cost $39.95.
Early 2001 the service was upgraded to 768/128 no increase in price.
Later 2001 the service was increased to 1500/128. The price went up to 49.95 but 6 months later went back to 39.95.
Now I have 3000/768 and pay $29.95 per month.
Yeah, they're snakes all right. Still $15 per month cheaper than Road Runner here. And the service has gone down 3 times in 4 1/2 years.

Pathfidner, I also signed up during Bell Atlantic Infospeed. 640/90. I got upgraded to 1.5/128, then 1.5/384. All though out this I was always 12,500 feet away.

Friday my house moves 5,000 feet and my modem resyncs to 768/128.

What makes me upset is that my ISP, the people who I've paid bills to for the past 5 years refuse to do ANYTHING about it. You're 768/128 now, like it or leave it.

I left it.
David

PS You might remember my uncle Sedated. He used to live in Brooklyn and owned this line before he moved. I've been paying the bills for the past 2.5-3 years.

I remember Sed and Willow too. Miss them on the board.
As far as houses moving, the cables are constantly being worked on. It sucks but a cable throw can and does tack loop length onto pairs all the time. And somewhat perfect lines can read different distances in MLT.
Unfortunately, VOL has no control over what the Verizon core does with the cables.

So what were you saying when the 1500/128 package was priced at $60 one day and $30 the next?

Lots of people forget that $37 is still $23 less than what it used to be at a slower speed.

I switched to it when Comcast added their monopoly fee for HSI only customers. Both services were $60. A month or two later, Verizon cut my bill in half... Those greedy SOB's.

Capitalism isn't the problem, the short-sighted bean counters are the problem. Capitalism is the solution.
