I believe it is just plain arrogance on the part of the company. Verizon (whom I have had dealings with) seems to think that they are the only option and have the "high and mighty" attitude.

"If you don't like it, go elsewhere" seems to be the new mantra of a lot of companies lately and it is very disturbing.

That's the same attitude I ALWAYS get when talking to their people (their Oregon people, at least), no matter what the issue. "You should consider yourself lucky that we even give you the most basic of voice service. Now go away, we're not going to do anything about your problem, and there's nothing you can do about it."
