We'll be in Waikiki for a few days and in Waimanalo Bay Beach/Bellows Beach area the rest of the time. -- Who is Emo? |

Honolulu Zoo (as FutureMon recommended). Picnic at Ala Moana Beach Park (Magic Island). Diamond Head Crater hike - you're have an amazing view when you make it to the top, and it's quite interesting to go through the military bunkers there. Tantalus Lookout - overlooks Manao Valley. Sea Life Park - aquarium of the Pacific ocean Haleiwa - for the shaved ice! -- You get what you pay for. Socom2: [BBR] DocT |

Ahh, yes, Zippy's! Get a bento for each of your family member and stop at a local grocery store (Times, Safeway, or Longs Drugs) and grab a case of Hawaiian Sun fruit drinks, then head on out for the sightseeing. -- You get what you pay for. Socom2: [BBR] DocT |

Tex Longhorn45-35Premium,MVM join:2001-01-05 San Diego, CA kudos:3 3 edits | Day One We spent the first few nights at the Bellows Air Force Base. Had a cottage on the beach. Very nice.
First stop was Nuuanu Pali State Park. Nice scenic view. We hit the Dole Plantation next and went on a train ride and did the maze (painful). Headed up to the north shore and ate at Haleiwa's Joes. Followed that up with some shaved ice from Aoki's. Came back and spent the afternoon on the beach.
If military, be sure to ask about discounts. -- Movin' to the country. Gonna eat a lot of peaches. |

Headed to a blow hole on the south coast. Tide was out so we didn't see anything. Tried to go to Hanauma Bay but, the lot was full and we were turned away. We were later told by the hotel that you should arrive before 0700 in order to get a parking spot. Decided to drive up the east coast. Hit a macadamia nut outlet and ate at the Shrimp Shack. Spent the remainder of the day at the Polynesian Cultural Center. Very worthwhile. -- Movin' to the country. Gonna eat a lot of peaches. |

ChrisJTPremium join:2001-12-20 Torrance, CA | I just got back from Hawaii (Oahu) yesterday. Wasn't the weather just fantastic? Ok, 88-90 degrees... but it was great! I spent the first half of the week visiting family and relatives.
Looks like you had a great time, Tex. Nice pics too! -- You get what you pay for. Socom2: [BBR] DocT |

Day Four Planned on going to Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. No parking and the lines were long. Headed back to hotel and saw signs for the »www.bishopmuseum.org/ The family enjoyed it as did I. Got there when it opened and it wasn't busy. Went looking for a place to eat afterwards and ended up at the »www.alohatower.com/ It has a good view. Then we headed over to the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific ( »www.cem.va.gov/nchp/nmcp.htm ). Ate dinner at the Singha Thai Restaurant. Found a coupon for buy one get on free entree. Used two of them and fed the whole family. Decent food for a good price. -- Movin' to the country. Gonna eat a lot of peaches. |

Re: Day Two As for Haunama Bay... If you head there before 9AM on a weekday (closed on Tuesdays), then you should be fine. I usually stop by at the Koko Marina to get some drinks and lunch for our cooler and then park at the Bay by 9:30-10am (latest). Never had a problem with a full lot on weekdays before 10am. -- You get what you pay for. Socom2: [BBR] DocT |

Day Five Got to the Arizona Memorial about 0630 and made the first group. Lots of interesting stuff to keep you busy before the boat trip out to the memorial. Had dim sum in Chinatown at Legends Seafood Restaurant. Good food and inexpensive. Drove up to the North Shore again. Checked out all the beaches. -- Movin' to the country.
