Re: Most Absurd Bill Ever said by ReidStott:
I'm not sure how you interpret a "refund" that "will reflect on your credit card" to mean a credit on my EL account. I didn't read your site. I read the link you posted above.

That is what I interpreted. If I mis-understood then it won't be the last time.

Uhawl-- watching --Premium join:2000-10-21 Asylum | reply to awluck Just in case those who are interested didn't notice, ELNK sent out a new invoice summary and a apology note this afternoon. The new invoice is a statement saying they credited my CC the 106.17 (107.14 - normal usf of .97)... Here is a copy of the text from the email:
Dear EarthLink Subscriber,
Due to an error on our part, your March 2005 EarthLink DSL invoice includes a charge of $107.14 for the monthly Universal Service Fund (USF) Fee Recovery and/or state taxes. These total charges should have been $0.97.
To correct this mistake, we have already adjusted your account and issued a refund in the amount of $106.17. The adjustment will be reflected on your next EarthLink invoice, and the refund will be applied to your credit card in one to two business days.
You can also view your invoice anytime by signing in to your "My Account" Web page: »myaccount.earthlink.net
If you have questions, you can trade real-time messages with a friendly Live Chat representative: »support.earthlink.net/chat
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Sincerely,
EarthLink Customer Service

 | reply to awluck Those looking for refunds on the taxes will need to be a bit patient. It may take a little longer than the standard 3-5 business days to refund bank draft or CC.
Since the charges are for misapplied taxes, CSRs are having to send the refund requests directly to accounting to be handled manually, not automatically as most refunds are done. Accounting at Earthlink is having to issue the proper notation as to who was charged erroneously, why, and then personally authorize a refund of tax charges back to a person.
If you do get hit, call regular customer service and advise them that your USF fees were incorrectly billed. They should be able to follow the procedure from there. |
