What a Joke!

"Verizon hopes the price increases will give people more incentive to stay with the service rather than defect to its cable competitors."

"We want to reward customer loyalty," said Bobbi Henson, a company spokeswoman. "It costs us more to have people on that kind of plan because they are not as loyal."

I guess that Bobbi Henson does not consider me a 'loyal' customer even though I've been a DSL customer for the last 4 1/2 years. When I first signed up, I had a 1 year contract and I've been month to month ever since. I think I've been very loyal.

I agree DP....I've been with Verizon for over 5 years myself, and it's sort of a slap in the face to me, not calling me a "loyal" customer! I think the fair way of doing it, and if they want to really give their "loyal" customers a break is to grandfather all existing users, at the rate they are right now. Then if you sign up of a year commitment, charge the $29.99 rate. If you don't sign up for the year, then charge the higher rate....this would make more sense to me on Verizon's part, showing how they appreciate your business over the years.
