Yet Another Data Heist - Nevada DMV

»www.allheadlinenews.com/ ··· 479&fa=1

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Personal information from more than 8,900 people was stolen when thieves broke into a Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles office, officials said Friday.

A computer taken during the break-in contained names, ages, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, photographs and signatures of southern Nevada residents who obtained driver's licenses between Nov. 25 and March 4 at the North Las Vegas office, state DMV chief Ginny Lewis said.

Note also, the data was not encrypted and thus all info is wide open to whoever took the computers.

Isn't that just brilliant, wonder who the whiz kids were who designed and built that system?

I bet they also sold old hard drives on eBay as well without wiping them first.

Hmmm, good idea, of course I never thought of that but I should get the listing up today. How much do you think I could get for them?
I don't find this impressive or funny at all. Crime is crime and one like this not only affects those Nevada residence that had their information compromised, it affects everyone on a national standpoint.
I would much rather jeer the criminals and apply focus towards resolving the situation than to waste time by complaining about a situation that you do not have full knowledge of.
Now back to those drives...
