so what is a "good" time here? my p4 2.4 rendered it in 6 min and 15 seconds and I haven't modified a thing and I don't have any high end equipment.

Should be purely dependent on CPU speed... Nothing else... Another good way to test speed of a System (cpu, bus, memory) would be to render some Flame Fractals at 2500x or higher. »www.apophysis.org/
