Re: Efficient tells me about advanced diagnostics! That's a start! Thanks! Is there any information regarding SNR Margin and Attenuation other than you want S/N High, and Attenuation Low? I understand what CRC codes & errors are from digital video, and S/N ratio in video can never be high enough... If S/N suddenly drops, is it a sign of weakening sending or receiving equipment, or line quality, or both? I don't quite understand attenuation.... -- Looking for 1939 Indian Motocycle |
 | When the S/R drops on this screen it is a drop on the recieved signal on your side of the line. Otherwords the signal is loosing power as it reaches your modem, usually a line problem.
Attenuation is measured is dB, basically the longer the line the more power if needed to carry signaling across the pair. The higher the attenuation the longer the loop or the more interference there is on the loop adding to the overall loss |
