When this NIC is plugged into my d-link 704 router the connect lights on the router stay lit no matter if the computer is off.
My other 2 comps, with different NICS, the connect lights go off on the router when the machines are off.
Is there a way to get the 3Com NIC to react like the other ones when the computer is off.
If your computer has an ATX power supply the NIC is still powered even when the computer is "off", and it keeps the link up.
If you unplug the PC at the wall, rather than just turning it "off", that would fix it...

Thanks Bob, How would I tell if it has an ATX power supply?
Rather than unplug the computer I guess I could unplug the NIC wire to the router?
If the computer is post somewhere about 1998 it will be ATX.
Yes, unplugging the wire will also work.... wow, that LED must be really annoying you!
