They are and always will be spyware!

A company i do work for is being unfairly disadvantaged because our competitors are advertising with infosonar.com a company who uses advertisers like this to FORCE advertising content and re-direct users. They even went as far as to use a misspelled version of our domain to redirect users to our competitors.

Litigation is in process...

I don't care what they do, If i don't specifically go to their site, and ask for their software. Then i don't want it, and i don't want to have to go through tricky uninstall procedures with "interesting" methods of retaining their installations. I hope legislation is finally passed that outlaws spyware, and they actually put harsh restrictions and penalties on it.

I also hope legislation is passed to block this kind of computer abuse. At one time there was a name for software that was secreted onto a computer for another's purposes, and carries a huge penalty if prosecuted. The name that was given? VIRUS! I pay to use the internet and dont want to see ANY advertising regardless of what I am searching for. For a company to be able to place their software, tracking cookie, or embedded image for the purpose of tracking is to me the equivolent of home invasion, which is prosecutable as an act of trespass. Laws are already on the books, they just need to be properly applied, but given this days need for specifics, lets get some new laws.

In this thread ( »The truth ) I took some nice pictures of the 180Solutions home office in Bellevue, Washington. Since they want to spy on me, I think I will spy back. (Since I already posted the pictures once, no point in wasting disk and posting them twice; so I will just link.)

Given the time it may be interesting to wardrive by and sniff the wifi band around their building.
