 | voip telmex and cable operators I have heard reports from a friend of the quality going seriously down hill on a Telmex prodigy ADSL 512k connection. They are scared and are starting to use bully boy tactics on voip traffic. For my part I use a cable operator for my voip calls in Mexico so Telmex can go whistle! As far as internet connection costs in Mexico it's rougly around $36 USD for a 256k connection per month with Telmex or a cable company. |

 | I pay about US$45 a month for 512Kb on Prodigy (TelMex). Been using Vonage for 4 months now with very few problems. I disagree with other posters that things are going down hill, if anything they are getting better. BTW the reason so many Mexicans go to work in the US is because there's a vast amount of employment opportunities in areas where Americans won't work, picking lettuce for example. They don't have work here in the agricultural area, because all the farm subsidies that America provides for it's farmers, produce such an unequal situation that the farmers here cannot compete. |

| It is one of the great myths of our age that U.S. citizens will not take those jobs now held by immigrants. In just 30 years, I have seen employment opportunities for local youth and adults in lumber mills and agriculture dissapear as immigrants moved into the remote area of Northern California where I live. Has the make-up of our society changed so much in 30 years that U.S. born workers no longer will take the entry level jobs that were snapped-up just 3 decades ago? No way!
If you repeat a lie often enough, it begins to sound plausible. |
