SBC to Texans "Yer dumb, believe us, now!"

I'm just not sure about stupid people in large numbers. I do not know if its the suits of SBC or the Texans in general. And since Texans will come on here to defend themselves (good for them!) it must be large number of stupid suits at SBC.

I am a Texan but I have no soft spot in my heart for SBC. I live within loop 820 in Fort Worth about a mile from TCU and couldn't even get SBC DSL at my house until about six months ago. I've had Charter high speed cable for about five years now and plan on keeping it. SBC had all this big talk about Project Pronto a few years ago and then gave up on it. I guarantee you that SBC did not consult us citizens when their lobbyists wrote that bill that they are trying to ram through the Texas Leg. By the way, the Texas Leg. meets about four months every two years. These bills are written way in advance by the ultimate insiders and the citizenry has virtually no chance to even react to them before they are voted on. I guess I'll stop here.

On the other hand, how do you explain Tom DeLay? He keeps getting elected in overwhelming numbers, so we can't blame SBC for that one.

Obviously, SBC, Verizon and the legislatures have no business asking our opinion. We are mere peasants for them. How dare we question their true motives!

There were a lot of feedback against toll roads from Public in Central Texas but they are going with it as well. In this case the contractors and their political buddies (starting from Gov Perry won).

Big business wins Texas size!

Just to let everyone know, HB 789 passed in the House without opposition on March 29 and has been referred to the Senate Business and Commerce Committee.

He just helped the Texas legislature do to the Democrats what the Democrats had been doing to the Republicans for decades. Now all the Texas Democrats are doing is winning about it. Poor babies they can sure dish it out but they can't take it.:D

The Texas Democratic Party motto is:

Give unto us all your illegal aliens, dead people, and household pets that we may illegally register them to vote for the Democratic party. Verily it is written It doesn't matter how you run the election as long as you haven't lost, Amen

I feel sorry Central Texas got dragged into the whole "tollway" situation. I'm up here near the Bush Turnpike and the Dallas Tollway. That's ok I guess, because we all know the Trans Texas-Corridor is next. What great way to tear up the state.

Anyway, SBC has been using the same "modernize" tag for years. Anyone remember the whole local & long distance debates in the 80s and 90s? I remember hearing the same excuse..."modernize".

Hope this helps...

If you draw the lines right, you can get anyone elected. And that is what happened.

DeLay is an embarassment and I don't claim him as either a fellow Texan or republican.

DeLay is indeed an embarrassment and I certainly don't claim him as a fellow Texan either. But DeLay may have pushed things a little bit too far. He actually was about 10 percentage points behind Bush's performance in his district last November. And polls in his district are showing a further decrease in support for him lately. We can only hope that if the "ethics" issues don't get him in Washington or if the grand jury doesn't indict him in Austin, then maybe the voters of Sugarland will throw him out in 2006.
