Re: SBC to Texans "Yer dumb, believe us, now!"

I am a Texan but I have no soft spot in my heart for SBC. I live within loop 820 in Fort Worth about a mile from TCU and couldn't even get SBC DSL at my house until about six months ago. I've had Charter high speed cable for about five years now and plan on keeping it. SBC had all this big talk about Project Pronto a few years ago and then gave up on it. I guarantee you that SBC did not consult us citizens when their lobbyists wrote that bill that they are trying to ram through the Texas Leg. By the way, the Texas Leg. meets about four months every two years. These bills are written way in advance by the ultimate insiders and the citizenry has virtually no chance to even react to them before they are voted on. I guess I'll stop here.

Obviously, SBC, Verizon and the legislatures have no business asking our opinion. We are mere peasants for them. How dare we question their true motives!

There were a lot of feedback against toll roads from Public in Central Texas but they are going with it as well. In this case the contractors and their political buddies (starting from Gov Perry won).

Big business wins Texas size!

Just to let everyone know, HB 789 passed in the House without opposition on March 29 and has been referred to the Senate Business and Commerce Committee.

I feel sorry Central Texas got dragged into the whole "tollway" situation. I'm up here near the Bush Turnpike and the Dallas Tollway. That's ok I guess, because we all know the Trans Texas-Corridor is next. What great way to tear up the state.

Anyway, SBC has been using the same "modernize" tag for years. Anyone remember the whole local & long distance debates in the 80s and 90s? I remember hearing the same excuse..."modernize".

Hope this helps...
