Hey, I hate getting all the email telling me where to get Viagra or that my loan I never applied for has been approved but it's not that much different from Amazon, Staples or any other company or website I have or have not done business with constantly sending me email. It's the same as people calling my house, knocking on my front door, or stuffing my mailbox, It's ADVERTISING. If I jump through hoops I can opt out of some of these but they will find another way to get my attention. Advertising is constantly bombarding us everywhere you look, it's out of control. I can't take a piss in a restaurant without being exposed to it. We need to put well defined boundaries on it before my kid goes to Pepsi High School or your next traffic ticket is brought to you by Geico Auto insurance.
This guy was in business, quite a few dummies got hurt financially, millions got annoyed, but his nine year sentence is too much for cleverly reaching as many idiots as he could find and sucking up bandwidth. Fraud that's another story and he should be punished for it. He is the fall guy so people can say "See, we are doing something about spam". Propaganda, advertising, it’s the same thing. |
