MarillaI Am My Own ArbiterPremium join:2002-12-06 Belpre, OH 2 edits | Unable to Send Through smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com This started for me a bit earlier today, and it has persisted.
I am having no other troubles with my SBC DSL connection at all (including receiving mail from my other-than-SBC e-mail accounts), but since port 25 is blocked and I can only use SBC's outgoing server, I have been unable to send anyone e-mail for a couple hours now.
smpt.sbcglobal.yahoo.com seems to respond to pings, but my Mac OSX Network Utility is never able to get a result from port scanning smpt.sbcglobal.yahoo.com on TCP25. Thunderbird says the server is refusing connection/not responding (after a very long delay).
Are there alternate SMTP servers I can use with my @sbcglobal.net account? -- Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD - just use the right tool for the right job... end the OS Politics!

Started last night with an error of not being able to receive 2 messages from the server, and today I'm unable to send any outgoing messages. All from my main account, I'm about to try a couple of test messages from my three sub accounts and see if they work.
EDIT: nope, no good. none of the sub accounts can send either. I can only receive.. bummer,

| reply to Marilla Well I hope this is resolved soon because, I am not going to scrutinize my system anymore because I have changed nothing.:D
And I have some important stuff to be sent:)
But I guess if I have to do it and log on to SBC yahoo to send the stuff so be it but I will be pissed. -- "The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is." |

Re: Unable to Send Through smpt.sbcglobal.yahoo.com Someone having this problem, please run the test described in »AT&T Midwest/Ameritech FAQ »The Telnet Test for SMTP Server Connectivity |

 | reply to Marilla This was a confirmed issue with SBC as of a couple of hours ago but is now closed, everything should be working fine. If still not working, try using smtpauth.sbcglobal.net |

 | reply to RadioDoc All I get is
220 AVG ESMTP Proxy Server 7.0.307/7.0.308 [266.9.3]
When I hit return I get
502 Error: Command not implemented
Could AVG be causing my problem? |
