Re: theft!

IMHO, when it comes to internet bandwidth, the cable companies need to come out of the dark ages. Every DSL provider that I am familiar with allows you to share your bandwidth on a home network (many even allow you to run web/ftp servers). Once the access reaches my modem, the bandwidth is pretty much mine to do with as I please since I am paying for it. If the cable companies are not paying their techs enough, then the techs need to look for better jobs and not blame the customers for their plight. Business losses are passed to the customer in the form of higher prices and seldom affect workers pay as long as the venture is profitable.

collaboration = theft - guilty party = owner of acct.
leaching = theft - guilty party = the leach

of course depends on TOS, if ISP dumb enough to allow it, so be it - I would be all for collaboration. If they don't allow it, then it's theft and no argument exists.

Keeping it real

Sargeeld...

You said it just right! Broadband providers allow you to share your conntection, ON A HOME NETWORK.. HOME. NOT NEIGHBORHOOD NETWORK.

You don't purchase "bandwidth" so please don't bend the terms to suit your argument. You pay for an entertainment service and it has a TOS that counters very much your opinions. (By the way, everyone has a right to an opinion, doesn't make them right)

Once the access reached your modem, the badnwidth is NOT pretty much for you to do as you please since you pay for it. Remember the TOS. You are actually buying space on their network and are agreeing to use it in their terms. If anyone knows how network access works, you will know that you are just an extended part of THEIR network.

As you say that us techs should look for a better job if we aren't paid enough, I too agree that if a customer does not like what they are paying for, they should find their service elsewhere too and not blame the Cable companies for the service they don't like! Works both ways bud.

And, workers pay IS affected by losses. Ever hear of the annual bonus? Ever hear of the base line pay adjustment? It's based on company performance. Things work different on a corporation basis than they do at Mc Donalds.
