Rogue WolfAte Your Homework, And Framed The Dog join:2003-08-12 Troy, NY | Warning: Mathematics Beyond This Point Hmm. 1150 minutes is just over 19 hours. There are 720 hours in your average month (30 days), or 43200 minutes. So talking for 2.7% of the month is excessive usage?
Oh, good, this gives me a use for my new (patented!) Male Bovine Fecal Matter detector.

Your comparison with cell phones is bogus. VoIP outfits do not maintain physical infrastructure such as cell sites, stores, or any of the other myriad bits necessary to construct a viable telecommunication service. These guys leech off people's existing broadband connections and evidently depend on uneducated sheeple who won't demand what they were promised via advertising and purchased when the company tries to weasel out.
Nice try defending these thieves, but you are dead wrong. |

Nobody is stealing anything from anyone, they didn't even automatically charge his card for more money (not that it would matter, if they have it in the terms of service they could do it ad it would not be stealing), they sent him an email giving him a choice of accepting to pay more or walk away. -- I support the RIAA |

 | reply to JoshNJ With my wife's family living in Florida and us living in Michigan, Our phone minutes add up very quickly. I would venture to guess that she is on the phone for AT LEAST two hours every day, what they talk about, who the hell knows, but they are on there haha. Saturdays and Sundays are especially bad because then everyone has all day to chat. We have SBC Unlimited (I know, different from VOIP) and am very happy about it. Before we had the unlimited plan, we had a $2600 dollar phone bill. I guess the VOIP service wouldn't like me very much. |

Compared to a landline or cellular system, not quite. In fact, not hardly. You are the one who was comparing pricing. Use apples to compare to the apples. This is more closely like the old 10xxx dial-in long distance companies.
VoIP providers do not supply the customer's physical connection. If they did, then you might have a point. They don't, and neither do you.
Thieves take things of value under false pretenses. Or maybe you like "sham", or "scammers" or even "crooks" better? Customers are paying good money and are NOT GETTING THE PRODUCT THEY WERE ADVERTISED. How is that not a scam? |

| reply to JoshNJ Yes, 19 hours a month does seem like a long time. But maybe thats why he signed up for unlimited service from them because he talks a lot. What part of the word "unlimited" don't you understand? If 19 hours per month from your residence is too much, then they need to stop advertising unlimited and start advertising that they allow 18 hours per month.
It's that simple. |

| reply to JoshNJ you sound like my landline provider. selling me unlimited local and unlimited long distance and then after i talk for over 2,500 minutes of LD the first month of usage that i told them about since i have family and friends that live in Cali and other states they sent me the TOS of their company and then cancelled my UNLIMITED long distance and started billing me 25cents per minute!
but RadioDoc is right. if it says UNLIMITED then its UNLIMITED.
by the way my old landline provider was VarTec |
