The past series of events do seem to give the impression that these are occurring more frequently than before, however the reality is that there is a massive amount of changes / upgrades going on in the back, not only with us, but pretty much all the other providers as well as a significant increase in the amount of dependancy on the internet, internet traffic, and needless to say the increase in the amount of 'abuse/mis-use' (virus, worms, etc.)
Needless to say, we are constantly analyzing and reviewing such events so as to further reduce any downtime and to be able to further improve any and all preventive actions. |

Surely with basic cable internet now being 4mbps/384k (and in most places actually exceeding the claims by a good half a mbps) something new must be coming in way of consumer grade DSL service... -- Michael A. | Probably a 6meg down package about the end to the year to early next year -:) |

 | said by jarruda:Naked DSL anytime soon ? Probably not in the real sense. But even today, for residential locations, one can get a stripped down basic, metered phone line for about $10 + taxes, and put DSL on it. That would make it as close to 'naked dsl' as you can get today. |

jarruda join:2002-08-25 Pompano Beach, FL | This "basic" line is what I've in place, but with tax and others, the value is US$ 21.00. Since VOIP is "out there", I guess that more and more people will be seeing even this basic line as a waste of money |

graysonfPremium,MVM join:1999-07-16 Fort Lauderdale, FL | Your "basic" line in place isn't the same one Faisal is talking about. You have unlimited local calls, but the cheaper metered line does not.
Also, someone told me that metered lines are no longer available, at least in Florida. But I haven't confirmed this beyond not seeing them being available on Bellsouth's web site. |
