Re: Local TV Changes?

said by ExitWound:

How does something like this impact television? Here in central PA, out of the 70 channels they offer, only ~10 are in stereo, there are signal anomalies on every channel in every tv in town, there are no HDTV options, and digital is a joke. Will someone else having the network mean that we'll see some upgrades?
In all likelihood, yes -- once Comcast takes over, they will probably merge your area into a more modern headend nearby. (One of the benefits of cable companies owning "clusters" of service areas is that they can consolidate headends, which makes it easier to offer advanced services. Here in Atlanta, Comcast has been able to go from a dozen or so headends to just three over the past decade or so.)
