No that fast for the Internet ...

Take a good look of Hong Kong Broadband Network offerings at »www.ctinets.com/bb1000/html/05_n···fer.htm! 1,000 mbps and 100 mbps are local maximum speeds tiers. Oversea maximum speeds tiers are 20 mbps and 10 mbps only! All require 15-month contract with no trial period, no money back guarantee policy just like SBC with early termination fee is reminding monthly fee or US$127 whichever is higher. They are fiber to the building service. For fiber to the home service requires US$876 installation fee!

The lowest tier is fiber to the building with no installation charge, up to 10 mbps symmetrical speeds for both local and oversea traffic for US$19 per month with first 3 months free for 15-month term so customers only pay US$19*12 for 15-month term contract that equals to about US$16 per month.

The second tier is fiber to the building with no installation charge as well, but up to 100 mbps symmetrical speeds for local traffic and oversea is up to 20 mbps symmetrical speeds only for US$35 per month with first 3 months free for 15-month term so customers only pay US$35*12 for 15-month term contract that equals to US$28 per month.

The third tier is fiber to the building also but has US$619 installation charge, up to 1,000 mbps symmetrical speeds for local traffic only. Oversea traffic is limited up to 20 mbps symmetrical speeds only for US$216 per month with 3rd, 10th and 15th months free for 15-month term so customers only pay US$216*12 for 15-month term contract that equals to US$173 per month.

The fourth tier is the highest tier that offers fiber to the home and has US$876 installation charge, up to 1,000 mbps symmetrical speeds for local traffic only. Oversea traffic is also limited up to 20 mbps symmetrical speeds only for US$216 per month with 3rd, 10th and 15th months free for 15-month term so customers only pay US$216*12 for 15-month term contract that equals to US$173 per month.

After all, I found their user’s oversea speeds test result at »/archive/ctinets.com. They are just a fraction of maximum advertised oversea speeds caps either 10 or 20 mbps.

I further found speeds tester for Hong Kong local traffic only at »www.speedtest.com.hk/. When I try to use its speeds tester to download 100 MB of test file from »ftp://download.speedtest.com.hk/100MBvideo.zip got “Cannot find server or DNS Error”. Wonder the tester is not available to oversea users or not.

At least they are given the choice, the only choices I get is either cable or dsl ,and the speed is exactly the same. I'll take the red pill thank you

HK and Malaysia right now are getting beat up by some really bad interconnect problems. Many of the isps there are running on back up and even service links at the moment and have been running at limited capacity since april 7th or so. So I wouldn't take that to bad yet.
