Details: Installed a data pole in yard since I live in a dip in the area, trees everywere, was able to pick up main tower in Reedsville, they have to go over to the tower there to direct the antenna to point it more my way, that should be done in the next week or so, was able to pick up in cherry picker 5mg down and up, very happy with service, even met a new buddy on psn :)

Pings are pretty good, not as good as some, they range around 30-100ms for games. Its a reliable connection, during peak times I usally don't get under 1.4MB down, which is very nice coming from HughesNet.

Overall: Fast Enough Speeds(for me), No FAP(dl limit), pings are good, great support.

Also did the VoIP speedtest. Results in a sec...pings to Google were very consistent, ~50ms, however I've seen them at 75ms before. Also, can't keep an AIM or Skype video call going, though Windows Live seems to work a bit better. They just started doing DHCP so when they convert to a Qwest T3 (still a T3!?!) they don't have to mess with customers' IPs. However to keep RDP going I got them to keep our static IP, though the DHCP seems to have some sort of NAT so they manually had to open (and forward from 6900 to 3389 geez) the port for RDP.

Anyway, here are the VoIP figures. Note that this is at 1 am there, so the network is in as good a condition as it'll get. Will post tomorrow during peak with those results. I think unmetered speeds get ~3 Mbit symmetric from my location.

QoS: 99%
Jitter: 0.1 ms
Packet Loss: 0.2%

Yes it's pretty awesome considering the figures for my college connection aren't nearly as good, even though the connection funnels into a hub along with ~19 Gbit of other connectivity and that in turn heads out to 12 Gbit of backbone, distributed between six providers. I think my school just needs to up their link to gigabit instead of the OC3...we're the slowest link on the POP.

At any rate, while the service seems to have decent equipment and customer service is generally good (I think they have six people working in the whole outfit though...maybe a few more...by no means a large establishment so they could afford to spend more on backbone) their whole deal with switching to DHCP and setting up the firewall as such is quite annoying. Also, speeds, while pretty darn stable, aren't great. As such, I'm going to try and convert to Millenicom now that the Bee Creek contract is up. No contract required, the service is actually mobile, and while there will be more latency downsream and upstream speeds during peak times will be 2-3x what they are now with the rA coverage and no firewalling or bandwidth limit!

Personally though I'm planning to, enterprising me, start up a wireless ISP, hopefully WiMax-based, to actually give people a choice rather than having one high-profile WiSP (who I'm thinking would charge $150+ for their 1.5-2 Mbit plan) and one satellite provider (WildBlue) as the big options outside of town. Pings are pretty good, not as good as some, they range around 30-100ms for games. Its a reliable connection, during peak times I usally don't get under 1.4MB down, which is very nice coming from HughesNet.

Support seems good now that I have it but it took over 3 months from the time I found their web site until they came out to do the survey, then almost 3 more weeks before the install. I think he needs to hire more installers!

It's working great since I got it 6 days ago. I did lose connection one time on the second day I had it but I power cycled router and all has been fine since. I am one of less than 12 customers on the tower.

I was using Direcway previously and this is a huge improvement! Seeing all the other prices is a bummer though, $85 seems pretty high compared to some of the prices I have been seeing.

I have no idea what equipment is involved, it's all on the roof.

Signal comes from a tower 23 kms away to a 100ft tower I have installed. Experiencing some packet loss likely because of distance to tower and congested network.

Testing with another supplier next week who wants to use my tower as a repeater for other clients in the area. His tower is 14 kms away to the south where the terrain is flatter. He has offered 3 mbps symmetrical and all equipment for free. For $40 per month, he says I will get 5 mbps.

I live in rual Barry,Illinois and the office of the provider is located in down town Barry,Illinois
They offer the following packages for wireless and also offer dial up services as well.I included there package and pricing info below as well as contact info.I have been a customer of this network for 3 years now and these guys go out of there way to make sure you have what you pay for.Any problems are quickly and professional dealt with.I'm their unofficial watch dog of the tower i get my service from as i have alerted them to problems they weren't aware of several times.The last one being a direct lightning strike that fried all the equipment they had on the tower.They had it all replaced and up and running again in a day after discovering the damage.Plus they did this on a Sunday also so that shows they care about there customers.I have the 512/512 package and when testing today i was getting right near that.I have been very happy with them and anyone who would happen to live in these local communities they service would be happy with them as well i believe.

I just moved from Ohio to Colorado (this week), the installer showed up on time and was finished in an hour. I had been sweating getting broadband and this is a great solution for rural Colorado.

My oldest son is complaining about being the "slowest" connection on XBox Live, but in Ohio, we had 5Mb/512kb service via TWC/RR.

I have had no trouble using VPN to connect to work and response time for telnet sessions via VPN are very good. I have also used a VoIP softphone via the VPN connection with good results.

All in all, I am pleased.

And in some places, like where I live, it took four years to get a landline, and then it does not even work most of the time for voice conversations and it is even worse for data, cutting out every couple minutes. This is one of those things that comes with living in a real 3rd world country. First of all, there is practically no competition. Second, the government doesn't help at all and puts huge taxes on almost everything.

Been with them since their beginning. They have made great strides and I now get great service. I purchased equipment for $150. Now they charge $150 for equipment, $25 activation, $50 install. Except for the occasional high-congestion moments (lasts about 20 minutes) I have never had a problem with on-line gaming. In All-Seeing-Eye I usually have two or three pages of sub-100 pings for Battlefield 1942. Currently Guild Wars runs just fine, too.:D

Even so, when I had a problem the techs were on it, pronto. Great service!

They said I probably wouldn't get signal because I'm NLOS at 4 miles from the closest repeater. I found signal with a 25' pole mounted to the side of the house. Old school equipment from them... WaveRider modem and aluminum 12 element yagie. I'm in the process of building a 50' tower to try for LOS or at least stronger signal. Any suggestions for locating a 75' cable so I don't have to house the modem outside?
There's no DSL, cable or even decent dial-up within 7 miles of my location and no plan to provide any to the population. I'd like to thank Qwest and Comcast for their lack of concern. Lack of demand in my area being the usual reply to my requests.
This wireless I'm now on smokes the dial-up which was 3.5/2. DirecWay didn't agree with Joint Ops or any VoIP programs and it's a pretty ridiculous install (They said they had to install it...) and monthly fee for the pathetic and nearly useless connection that you get. Sorry but not being able to game or talk online is not a viable option.
