Normal headphones headset to xbox?

Hi, is it possible in any way to strip the wires of a normal PC headset, with a normal 3.5MM microphone port, to hook into an xbox? I have an extra trash controller I can cut the cord from and possible hook into the headset, this is temporary for a few weeks if possible.. Like if the wires are even the same type for me to connect, I need diagrams and such, Thanks so much!

umm.. just use the headset port that plugs into the controller, it already has a mini-jack connector on it.

Ok but how? Where do I hook it in? Is there a hookup on the xbox or controller or somewhere? Where do I plug things in?

you're gonna need a headset adapter that plugs into one of the memory slots.

you can't hard wire a headset to a controller.

Best Buy, Game Stop, etc. My local GS has pre-owned ones for $20. Best Buy sells them brand new for $30.

You would be better off getting the XBL headset...
Quite some time ago I used a cell phone headset.
It was very displeasing since it generated poor sound & the infamous echo
