 | "Borrowed software" I make every attempt to use pirated software for every application I can think of and I don't feel the least bit bad about it. Gonna charge me $200 for an OS that I have to have because the apps I need to use require it. SCREW YOU Bill Gates!!! It doesn't cost them near what they take in to develop their bug infested software (thats why Gates is a billionaire). If XP Pro cost $40 instead of $200 (or whatever it is - wouldn't know since I never bought a copy), they would still make a profit and many more people would be legit. |

 | reply to mlundin Since when do you *have* to use their OS? Did someone put a gun to your head? (although even then you could choose not to use it). The apps you *need* to use? Again, you choose to use them. And why are you using it if it's so bug infested? And why $40? Is that some magic number? Just because you are willing to pay $40 doesn't mean others are, and $200 or whatever seems to be serving Microsoft quite well, I don't think they're about to lower prices. Please put some thought in to your arguments, not just emotion. |

PhoenixAZGet A MacPremium join:2004-01-04 Phoenix, AZ kudos:1 1 edit | reply to mlundin First of all, all "advanced" OSes charge money for the OS.Windows is one of them.
Mac OS Upgrades arent exactly $40 either. Linux OS upgrades are ususally free *IF* the distro isnt "professional"
"Professional software" Look at SuSE- $89.00 Linspire- $45.00 Windows XP $99.00->$299.00-Pricing depends on Number of licenses or Home/Professional/Media Center/* Mac OS X $129.00->$199.00-Pricing depends on number of licenses. -- Caution: Bryant acts stupid in Stupid threads. |

However, the EULA states (even in Windows 98) that one license goes to one computer, period. I'm sure nobody lost sleep over it; I sure didn't. I honestly don't see why Microsoft can't sell the Home edition as one license goes to five computers or something... I mean, it's not like you can use Home in a professional environment anyway. -- A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station. |
