There aren't any updates for Win ME users this time, are there?
Correct. Only Windows 2000
And nothing in 98 SE.

reply to Fina
Hi Fina,
When you run the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool from Windows Updates it runs a scan silently and exits. If you want to see the results of the scan it is a file called MRT.log located in the Windows\debug folder.

has ANYONE who regularly runs security software (av, anti-spy, etc.) EVER seen anything picked up by this? as i said to fina (shows how much MY little advice is worth ) AFAIK there is no reason to install this is you run good security programs; i usually advise my noob friends not to unless they are not doing the other basic steps i usually force on them .

If you read the FAQ on this patch - ME is affected. 98 and earlier are not. But they are only releasing CRITICAL updates for ME - this is not listed as CRITICAL but IMPORTANT, thus no update for ME.

Just be aware...

I got and installed the update. I did have to reboot, however... perhaps that was because I downloaded he update exe, or, what have you.

Nothing blowing up yet, here!
I updated via WU and a reboot was necessary to complete the update.

There are also Security/Required updates via WU in the 'Office Family' section. Office 2003, Word 2003, and Outlook 2003 w/Business Contact Manager.

My apologies if this has been posted previously and/or elsewhere.
