kaila join:2000-10-11 Lincolnshire, IL | How are they doing this?!? I mean the labels pushed Apple so hard with demands that iTunes is nearly unprofitable at .99c per track @ 128Kbps. What kind of slack did the labels cut with Yahoo to offer this at $4.99mo unlimited? |

 | Good question. Maybe now that iTunes has tested the waters and proven there is a market for paid downloads (in spite of the label's greed on royalties and licensing) they are offering better rates for Yahoo. Or maybe Yahoo is operating at a loss and making it up on something related like ads or value added service. |
 | Or maybe it is because the $4.99 a month does not include the rights to burn to a CD and the music expires when your subscription does. |
 | Doesn't iTunes do something similar with their monthly subscription? Not having used the service I just assumed that's what was going on. |

 | There is no monthly subscription for iTunes. |
