From Btefnet:

"(08:07:51) (@oblivionx) [Request] Message:[The #BT Website is currently down. Releases are on hold, possibly for the entire night, until we have a better understanding of the current situation. We have NOT been sued! Please be patient and do not PM the ops. We will keep you guys updated"

Thank goodness! That's the most reliable tv-torrent site I've found. I'm in the process of moving so I've missed a lot this week. I still gotta download "Medium."

I was wondering why my download of the final episode of The Amazing Race suddenly stopped working... The trackers for btefnet seem to be down and this explains it. Oh well, now I have to hope someone I know managed to record it.

Official Industry Torrent site?

So kind of a dumb question... Why don't they create a competing alternative? IF their issue is the removal of commercials, why don't they create an industry supported torrent site, release a show at the moment of its first broadcast, keep at least one server seeding it, and the version they release contains the ads that were in the broadcast. As a consumer, I don't like ads, but I'd know that I never have to look over my shoulder in fear - this version is fully legal and sanctioned. That way, I go to the industry site & they keep the ad revenue - in fact they might be able to claim more eyeballs & raise their rates. And I wouldn't have to worry about tons of pop-ups, porn, spyware, infected torrents, lesser quality files, etc. Does it just seem too obvious?

or they could simply release tv torrents with advertisings which wouldnt make the file that bigger and we can skip them quite easly.

It is possible to keep you from skipping the commercials. Some DVD publishers are already doing it. I've personally seen quite a few commercial DVDs where skipping, rewinding and fast forwarding is disabled at certain spots (e.g. commercials and FBI warnings). If you try to press any of these buttons on your DVD player remote, nothing happens and/or a symbol pops up on your screen telling you that you can't do it. I believe that Microsoft's Windows Media Video format also gives publishers an option to disable the progress bar, effectively forcing you to watch it all the way from the beginning to the end, killing your chances of skipping commercials.

Of course, this kind of stuff can be hacked...

I pay for cable and satellite tv. And i put alot of hours in at work. When I mess a show, I download it from torrents. And I will not stop. If I am already getting tv legal. Then I have the right. And believe me there is other places to get tv shows beside torrents. MPAA kiss my white ass.

I do the same, and I always throw away the TV shows after watching them. I only keep copies of pr0n and movie releases.

I toss them too. It's in their best interest that I be able to download TV shows. This week is a good example.

In the process of moving, I had no cable (and no time to watch it) for a few days. So I missed all my favorite shows. . .Alias, 24, etc. As we all know, shows like those make it hard to come back to if you miss even ONE episode. So if I missed them, chances are likely that I would lose interest in the rest of the season. In fact, this happened to me during last season of Alias. I missed a few shows due to acts of God (and a little forgetfulness on my part )and just said "Screw it!" If not for Bittorrent, I probably wouldn't give a damn about the current season!

This year I missed the whole season of Scrubs because I was watching House instead and at the time I didn't have a DVR. So now I want to find the whole 4th season so I can catch up over the summer and be ready for the upcoming season. I'm also about 5 episodes behind Desperate housewives, another 7 episodes behind 24, and another 6 episodes behind Alias. Catchin up is a pain but worth it.
