quiet on all my email accounts. but i have a stupid question, if it has no virus attached, then how/why is it a sober variant? is the link itself malicious?

It's a variant that only spews the spam, it doesn't spread itself. It was downloaded and installed by machines infected by the Sober variant that was spreading and stopped spreading last week.

It's using computers infected with the previous version of Sober for spam distribution.
