3Com OfficeConnect Switch

Switch Details: 3Com OfficeConnect Dual Speed Switch 5
Switch Model: 3C16793
Login Screen: CPE Configuration Utility, version 3.05.14 (build 2090)

What I am wondering is how do you log into this switch? I don't know what the password is and I was wondering if anyone would have an idea of how to reset the CPE login ID back to default. I just want to be able to log into the switch.

Ask me and I will fill in more details if you need.

You can't. It's a switch; there is nothing to configure. The only thing it does is forward packets. The login screen is probably something else connected to the switch. The only swicthes you can login into are managed switches, which this one defenitely isn't. How did you get that login screen anyway?

PS. I have the 3C16794, the 8 port version.

ISP had it. I type in 192.168.1.1 to get the login screen up and there it is(CPE Stuff). It has to be the switch since it is the only thing connecting me to the modem and I doubt the modem would have it or else that would be the first time I have ever seen a modem with a login screen like that. Do you want to me to post a screenshot of the login screen?

If it comes to worse I will probably just buy a decent router.

Well if your switch was manageable, then there would be firmware for the unit at the 3Com 3C16793 Support Page.

I believe what your seeing is your modem interface (Login Screen). Which modem do you have, btw?

Anyway, your switch is a very good product made by 3Com and is rock solid. No configuration or anything that requires a beer after words. All you do is plug it up and go. Then you have a beer for recreational purposes.

The good news is that you may find a router with one lan port that you want and the switch you have will work just fine with it.

Good Luck..

Alright, looks like I am stuck like this unless anyone knows of Modems that are for Wireless internet. Also, I have no idea what the modem is(Probably some unknown brand it has no labeling) but it is very small a little smaller then a average wallet. The WISP(SirisOnline) I am on is based out of Chicago and they kind of have this branch of them left pretty much alone which sucks cause in Chicago they give 10Mb up and down and to us we get 256Kb or 512Kb. Only reason I have the 3Com Switch is because we complained that a lightening strike burnt are network and so they replaced the router with the switch.
