Anon | Re: PSN wrap I can't believe this! What, do we live in a communist country or something? This is the United States of America for God's sake. We have the RIGHT to say what we want without being afraid of being punished for it. And if a company doesn't believe in this philosophy then it shouldn't have the privilage of doing business in this great nation. Screw PSN! I even considered signing on with them too. Not anymore! |

| Err....one of communisms main pitfalls is the punishment for vocal criticism......
It's not about money, they already had the money.
All it's about is one moron taking a business interaction personally and getting revenge. THAT's what it is about. |

Anon | reply to Anon So you're saying if you cuss your boss out then he can't fire you? No, this is not true. However, PSN should consider the ramifications of cancelling an account when they're in the wrong. No company should take money from a customer with an indefinite waiting period. They use this tactic to fund the installations that ARE happening. It is a tried and true business practice, as long as you control the spectrum of the service. But PSN does not, and therefore they should not partake in methods of business that require it. |

| How can a business be so marginally profitable that it must use deposits from new customers to fund previous orders??? Does 'tried and true' in your book mean the last few years of nasdaq hyper-expansion??? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it would seem a very risky way of running things, because one slip-up, and your new customers (with nothing to show for their faith) are left holding your debts. If the only way to survive is to run like this, then maybe, its a sign you should focus on something you have a real edge in. |

Anon | Actually, it is a "tried and true" practice to use prepays from current customers to pay for a service to a prior order. However, I've only sen it done when (a) a fixed timetable exists, and (b) the company that receives the prepay is the same one responsible for defining the timetable.
A well run company would not depend on this float in order to meet their financial obligations. Rather, it frees up other monies to be used towards other investments. Should a problem develop, those other investments can be put on hold; preventing a "collapse" of the prepay fund float system. It's basically a way for a company to treat the prepays as a short term loan.
Of course, sinse PSN is not in control of the timetable, and there's an indefinite wait for service, I find it hard to justify the use of requiring a prepay to get a "free" service. |

Anon | reply to Anon This is called corporate facisim! yes your boss can fire you for cussing him out. This is diffirent situation. this is a Corporation that does not like negative (which one does) comments made public. some companies try to place a slap lawsuit against the person making the comments Slap is strategic litagation against public participation. California and a couple of other states have outlawed this type of lawsuits by Corporations and government entitys to silence a party and negate his 1st amenmendment rights. Does not apply to a person cussing out his boss. Thas was a silly post. |
