Yep. Normally I meet or beat the speakeasy times on my comast line. How sad. I've also been seeing slow speed tests from sea.speakeasy.net. I usually see downloads in the 6500 to 7000. Now I get more like 3000 or 3500.

said by figmund:

Just for the record, I'm in Sammamish and my speeds have been this way for a week now:

Your download speed : 3358446 bps, or 3279 kbps.
A 409.9 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 750469 bps, or 732 kbps.

Upload speed - cool beans... download speed? Not even close to the "standard" tier. But how can you get customer service to do anything about it? They just say the network is "normal".
Me too! I used to be very fast when the top tier was 4 Mbps, but now my download speeds have been marginal for months (should be 6000, is actually 2000-2500 Kbps). Upload speeds are on spec, usually around 700 Kbps. First time I called Comcast, they went through the whole deal of making sure the host was connected directly to the cable modem. No difference. Then they blamed my house wiring until I connected the modem directly to the network drop. No difference. Then a tech came out and checked the signal levels, and they were marginal. He added a booster amp, but no difference. Then the Moto SB5100 modem was blamed, so I replaced it with a Cisco modem. No difference. Comcast did offer to escalate the ticket to an engineering supervisor. I did get a couple of calls from the supervisor, but nothing specific was mentioned. On the last call, he mentioned that they had moved my drop to a new node, but alas, no difference.

I'm thinking it's time to drop back to the standard speed tier until such time as they can support the higher tier speeds.

ok here is the low down so far
Lacey Seattle Everett Mount Vernon, Wa slow Down load Speeds
Federal Way, Wa good speeds
mabe anyone north of SeaTac is getting odd ball speeds probs ?

Auburn here and mine is up and down on the download side.Happens off and on though. I play xbox live and have had times I would lose connection all together. I had someone come out and test modem and out at the street. I was told I was getting a week signal out at the street on the high end ( what ever that means) that was last week and am still seeing the problem. I doubt anyone came out to check it out like I was told they would. They said I didn't need to be home for that we know what that means right? they will say they did but didn't

Well im still sucking badly here in fairwood in Renton (WA) i have ran tests over and over, even reset my modem and all im capable of is 1700-1900 speeds.

My wife called comcast because everytime i dl a file she cant use the internet because its bogged down, and of course the loser comcast tech tells her its all her problem not there's, and dosent even suggest a fix for her.

Interesting,
On Saturday there was a Comcast line truck blocking my driveway. I asked him what he was doing and he said the were adjusting the amps in the neighborhood because our signal level was low. I have noticed a small speed increase since then. I have also noticed that speed test from sea.speakeasy.net have been low for the last two weeks. i get much higher test results from Linkline but even it will vary
from one test to another.

Well, not much I can do about it. The speeds are pretty sporadic up and down.

I keep a very large jar of vaseline by my computer so that when Comcast bends me over it doesn't hurt so much anymore.

You can get used to anything....

This is getting insanely stupid, pings go up to 300+ by about 9pm. It's quite hard to do anything like play a game.

I'm in Seattle, did a speed test to Seattle.
