With 22 official languages and federal states are carved on linguistic basis, you need to at least a bi-lingual, your mother tongue + Hindi (National Language) or Your Mother tongue + English (de-facto associate language). When you move from one state to another, you keep picking up their language and subsequently becoming multilingual. The conditions are similar elsewhere in East Asia; you have many languages and many dialects. <br><br>I know, <br>1. Tamil (Mother Tongue)<br>2. Hindi (hmm&#133; National Language)<br>3. English (de-facto for any literate Indian)<br>4. Telugu *<br>5. Malayalam *<br>6. Kannada *<br>And forced by the Global Economy, I am exposed to <br>1. French<br>2. German.<br><br>I should be adding Mandarin, Spanish and few Indian languages in couple of years. <br><br>Note: * - Official language of my neighboring states. You need to know those languages, as you may require it when you step in to those states.]]></description>

Actually, a better name would be European Spanish. The Spanish in the Americas was brought here and has mixed with a myriad of aboriginal languages. Only when I talk really fast though , which is almost all the time.<br><br>2.5 years of Latin for junior high, can still read/write in it semi-fluently.<br><br>A bit of Spanish.<br><br>Currently bout a year through with a french course and planning on becoming fluent in it. My dad went there for 3 years and then later got a masters degree in it so I have a good teacher. <br><br>I'd like to pick up Polish and German as well since they're the preferred language for my biological family (I'm adopted). I  guess that technically makes me only 2nd generation American.<br><br>I'm valiantly trying not to pick up the awful hick dialect here in Idaho and so far it's working, except for the very occasional y'all :)]]></description>
